How does a Custom GelPax fundraising campaign work?

How it works!

The goal:

The first thing you need to determine is what you would like to accomplish by running a GelPax fundraising campaign.  How much money would you like to raise and what is the money needed for?  It is important that you state this goal in your fundraising campaign letter.  Sales will increase dramatically if your members know what they are aiming for and where the money is going.

We can then convert your monetary goal into a GelPax goal.  For example, if you want to raise $10 000 by selling our versatile 5” x 7” solid freeze gel packs at $5 each (you receive $2.50 per gel pack), you would need to sell 4000 gel packs.  If you have 200 people in your organization, this means a goal of 20 gel pack sales each.  When you consider that each person will easily be able to sell a useful, novel $5 item to family, friends, colleagues, neighbours etc., you can see how easy it would be to reach this goal.

It is essential to discuss the strategy with your group so that they are confident and enthusiastic about reaching the goal.  You can suggest prospects who would be likely to buy GelPax.  For example, take preheated GelPax along to the soccer game and cold spectators will snap them up.  Or cool them on a hot day and sell to people to use in their coolers.  You could approach businesses that may profit from your organization’s fundraising efforts.  For example, if the goal is to buy new computers, you could approach the computer company and sell GelPax to their employees.

The date:

A one week blitz is much more effective than a two month bore-a-thon!  With a clear target and a feeling of urgency you can create enthusiasm and excitement, and keep everyone focused on the goal.  We suggest two to three weeks as the maximum time for the campaign to run.  Try to have at least one major payday (15th or 30th of the month) during your campaign.

Communication:

One key person should be designated to communicate with Custom GelPax.  Ideally you need a high energy, enthusiastic volunteer who can promote the products and thereby your goals.  We will be there to support this liaison person, to provide tips on showing the product, motivating the members, taking orders, and receiving and distributing the products. 

Having one contact person does not necessarily mean that this is a one-person job.  It will mean less confusion and more consistency.  This person is encouraged to recruit help, and needs to make sure that each team or individual in your organization is on track.  You can set up a phone committee so that everyone feels involved and so that energy levels are kept high by communicating before, during and after the campaign.  Remind members, parents etc. of the goals and deadlines, and provide frequent status reports and updates.  When individuals have good results, let everyone know.  This is an excellent motivator and reminds everyone that you have a fundraiser going on!

Orders, Payment and Delivery:

Have customers pay when they order.  People expect to pay in advance for fundraising items. We will supply order forms to make taking orders as easy as possible.

Once the orders are in, print a list of the participants’ orders.  Let us know the order quantity and delivery date.  We will need to deliver to one location for the entire organization.  Organise volunteers to assist with distribution of the GelPax to the participants.
